Often referred to as a "penis pump," a vacuum erection device (VED) generates negative pressure to draw blood into the penis by expanding the surrounding tissues. Medically approved VEDs, designed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), have safety mechanisms to limit maximum pressure. In contrast, consumer-grade pumps marketed for penis enlargement can reach unsafe pressure levels, potentially causing tissue damage.
To maintain an erection after removing the device's airtight seal, a constriction band is applied at the base of the penis. However, wearing this band for over 30 minutes can lead to permanent damage and even erectile dysfunction. While vacuum therapy is effective in managing ED and preventing penile shrinkage or deterioration, clinical trials have not demonstrated its efficacy for penis enlargement.
